To look back and see that I haven’t posted since March is nuts. Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know we are still going strong. It’s been quite the year so far. Some great things and some rough ones. My wife and I are expecting a little girl in January; we lost a very important person in our lives’ who I think about each and every day, my father; and we bought our first home. Not to breeze through these events, but still lots to do and only so many hours to do them. New blog, tons of new posts, and a new baby all due in January. Stay tuned.

I guess it’s good when you aren’t blogging much because that usually means you are busy. Or it could mean you don’t have anything to blog. Well, thank God it’s reason number one. I’m trying to get the last of my weddings posted from 2009. I only have a few left to post– not bad for being the first week in March. But enough about my blogging or lack there of. In late November, I had the pleasure of shooting Marissa and Noah’s intimate . Talk about some good lighting. If I could shoot every wedding outside I would. As you can see by the photos– good lighting just makes it too easy. It’s time for some sleep now. I hope you enjoy the shots.

And this year it has been 9 years. Funny that in a blink of the eye so much time has passed. Seems like yesterday we were going to punk shows in tallahassee and staying up till 5 in the morning drinking busch light with all our friends. Carolina and I met in college at Florida State but didn’t start dating till after I had graduated, moved to California for a stink in the Surf Industry, and once again moved back to Tallahassee where I worked at an ad agency. There we came to bond and realize we were soul mates. Yeah, yeah I’m hopeless romantic, but how else would anyone want to live. Guess that’s why I enjoy shooting people and weddings so much. This year was an awesome and relaxing anniversary where we roamed around town everywhere from the everglades all the way to the beach. I’ve actually been surfing on a few Saturdays and Sundays and seen the cruise ships going out to sea and thought that Kai and Carolina would love to see it. So we headed down there to watch them head out. I snapped a few shots below. Enjoy. Happy Anniversary Brinca. Love you.

Jimmy and Lisa are two of the most genuine and warm people I know and the second you see them it’s like you saw them yesterday. No matter how long it’s been. You might recognize Jimmy and Lisa from there . There is no post on my website that I have heard so much about from people other than theirs. “Oh I loved that shoot with the track and field couple.” Can’t tell you how many moms I’ve heard that from. Well these two are rockstars in my world. As I mentioned in their first blog post Jimmy and Lisa had a brief relationship in high school that ended pretty abruptly, but found each other again randomly one faithful night over a decade later. Can you say “serendipity”. As you may notice in the pictures below. When these two lock eyes you can feel the entire world stop around them like some weird scene in a science fiction movie. Time stands still for these two. Every wedding I shoot I get kind of a warm fuzzy feeling when the bride joins her groom at the alter but at this wedding by eyes actually welted up. No worries I dried my eyes and got my focus back (grin). As Jimmy and Lisa have a lot of friends there was no shortage of insanely big smiles in the seats surrounding them. All around just a joyous occasion. One other notable moment that I just have to mention was Jimmy and his Mom’s dance to . By far the coolest song I have heard yet at a wedding for this dance. Today I’m posting Tali and Maor’s wedding which was a ton of fun. One great thing about this wedding was the ability to shoot the first look. Since this wedding was in November. Daylight savings time was going to put a hurt’n on my ability to get some great shots of the two of them. That’s why I love when a bride and groom are willing to do the first look ahead of time. Not only does it alleviate the rush of trying to shoot them after the ceremony with very little natural light, but they get to spend some time alone and take it all in. Well some what alone at least. Another notable bonus is they can go to the cocktail and get some of those tasty hors d’oeuvres. I After the first look I like to take couple around and shoot them for a bit. Most of the time I try stay a good distance away with the long lens and let them have some great moments. Enjoy.

Crazy to see videographers using still cameras like the 5D Mark II to shoot video for the wedding.

I love the fountains out front. These things shoot water 3 stories up in the air.

I’ve always thrived on learning but reading books always made me sleepy. On top that having a runaway imagination always made it difficult for me to coast through a book, until l I found out about audio books. Now, books on tape have been around forever but the selection and convenience of reading or “listening” to them was blah. Now with services such as audible and itunes, accompanied with an amazing device called an iPhone, books are at our finger tips. I commute about 2 hours daily and find myself killing time either listening to the radio or chatting it up on the phone -TWO hours a day! It occurred to me that I could try to find something inspiring and productive to do. Now I actually look forward to the drives home where I find myself inspired to and fro.

Here are my two sentence reviews of each book. See the audible links to get more in depth reviews and summaries:

– Outright inspiring to see how strong willed and tough Michael J. Fox is. A humbling read.

- Somewhat high level at times but a great perspective on how to start ups can become great companies.

– What will people remember about your brand? A solid look into the minds of consumers.

– Fascinating synopsis of brain functions and how our tickers operate. If you are curious about how we learn. It’s a great read.

– Good read on grassroots finance. Giving two different sets of parental advice to get to financial freedom.

– A mans last great project to leaving behind a legacy from a life left inspired and motivated. Must read.

– For the outdoors man/women in every person. This book is a humorous yet super detailed recollection of an adventure down the Appalachian trail

– A classic book on how to do business the old fashion way. That is actually talking to people.
– Asks the questions how does Google and other great companies do such an amazing jobs of developing awesome products.

– How do you get your point across and make people remember your business? This book is Awesome!

– Good read on how companies leverage their customers to make their products better while at the same time making for a better user experience.

I’ve never felt more at peace and excited for the days, months and years ahead. Looking back on 2009, I only have great memories and a great outlook to accompany them. As some might know, 2009 wasn’t an easy year for my wife and family. Between endless doctors appointments, increasing medical bills and very little support from our health care provider the accident tested our strength. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Right? Absolutely. If life was easy, we surely wouldn’t appreciate the blessings that we have. It’s hard to appreciate a beautiful day if you don’t have a rainy day here and there to give you perspective. Well, the universe (without getting to philosophical) will provide you with everything you need if you just look. What started out as a small idea, while driving home from the doctor’s, became and a true enlightenment of what loving friends, family and complete strangers could create. We raised over 12,000 dollars. All I can say, once more, is “Thank you, thank you, thank you” to everyone who contributed to the success of it. Between this project and the growth of Droze Photography we were able to cover all the medical bills and put the accident behind us. Carolina’s last surgery was just shortly after her 30th birthday in August and she is more than happy to offer up a huge smile to anyone she comes in contact with. It’s amazing how bad a dark situation can look when you are completely engulfed in it but how quickly things can balance themselves back out.
